In this video I'll be showing how I painted up the primaris apothecary for my Knights of the Chalice force. When I got it I didn't realise how good the miniature was, I thought it was ace, but coming to paint it I realised how good it really was. There's an unreal amount of detail (which is why the video is so long) which really brings it to life.

How to paint Apothecaries? I recently bought a Primaris Apothecary and I really want to paint him in a crisp white color. I have Corax White spray but it's slightly more grey-ish than I'd like. Any recommendations on spray/base color? And how should I shade it? Just in the recesses or the entire dude? White is a nightmare to work with.

Id suggest just priming it with corax white (shake can super well) and using apothecary white contrast all over and then work panels with corax white and edge highlight with white scar. Spray it white. Then give it few thin coats of Ulthan grey. Then a thinner down Nuln oil wash, over the white. Then drybrush Ulthan grey over the whole model.

There's a reason most folks dont paint straight white. It tends to be chalky and bad for a smooth coat. If you're using citadel paints, do a layer of celestra grey, then ulthuan grey. Highlight with white scar. Comes out so much smoother

They are a bit of an odd unit colour wise in past books as they seem to shift between being primarily white, with black bits, (Codex: Armageddon, Page 20.) Or primarily black, with white bits, (Codex: Black Templars, Page 49.) The insignia is pretty fixed, as per the BT codex, Red trim and red helix with a white pauldron.

For a Magenta, start with Screamer Pink, shade with a 50/50 mix of Carroburg Crimson and Nuln Oil, then highlight with Screamer Pink and a a mix of Screamer Pink and White. For more of a violet, start with Xereus Purple, shade with Druchii Violet, highlight with Daemonette Hide.
