Upon arriving at Sète, nothing compares to climbing to the top of the 600ft high Mont Saint Clair to understand the exceptional geographical situation of the city. The canals were dug in 1666 and link the Atlantic and Mediterranean. There are 12klm's of beaches and a cycle path. We did the very steep climb to Mont Saint Clair and Notre Dame de la Salette a little Chapel decorated with frescoes. It took about 45 minutes walk from the cruise ship and we are in early 70's.
